Charging in the rain is safe:
- Designed for all weather: EVs and charging stations are engineered to operate safely in rain, snow, and other outdoor conditions.
- Sealed connectors: Charging plugs and ports have weatherproof seals that prevent water from entering sensitive components.
- Built-in safety systems: Both the car and charger monitor the connection and will not allow power flow until everything is properly secured.
- Avoid standing water: While rain is safe, don’t charge in deep puddles or flooded areas to reduce risk of electrical hazard.
As long as you follow normal precautions, charging your EV in the rain is completely safe and routine.
